The studio space
Ocean Studio Berlin is located on the fourth floor of a more than 100-year-old factory building. Furniture was once produced here. For over 15 years, the space has been used for photography, film, TV segments and selected music video productions.
What defines the studio most is its light. The 10 metre south-facing window front creates a bright, open shooting area across the day. Large windows on the opposite side add depth, airflow and a second axis through the room, which makes the loft feel open rather than boxed in.
The overall atmosphere is warm, industrial and functional at once: not a sterile white box, but a space with character that still works like a production base.

Natural light with room to shape it
The studio is especially valued for its daylight. The main shooting area sits along the broad south-facing windows, bringing in generous light throughout the day. With ceiling heights of up to 3.25 metres, the space also allows for larger light setups and modifiers.
White blinds and diffusion materials are available to soften or reduce the daylight when needed. That makes the space suitable both for clean daylight portraits and for more controlled setups.

Why teams like working here
Some studios are technically fine and emotionally dead. Others look charming but slow productions down. This space sits in the useful middle: enough character to feel like Berlin, enough structure to work professionally.
It is a good fit for people who want daylight, a calm atmosphere and practical logistics without moving into a giant high-spec film studio.

Production-friendly setup
The studio is designed to support real working days, not just pretty pictures.
Freight elevator
A large ground-level freight elevator makes load-in simple, including heavier equipment and rolling cases.
Separate production office
The former foreman’s office with glass partition can be used as a production office, make-up space or styling room.
Kitchen and comfort
Small kitchen with fridge, coffee machine, tea and tableware. Bathroom with shower and toilet.
Furniture on site
Sofas, chairs and tables are available and can be used as part of the setup or for crew comfort.
rental rates
The studio can be booked for half-day or full-day use. To keep pricing transparent, here are the base rental rates for the space itself.
Extras such as backdrop rental, additional stands, overtime, cleaning or production support are not included and can be quoted separately if needed.
Hand-Painted Backdrops
For portraits, product photography or as a video background – our hand-painted canvas backdrops add structure, character and timeless elegance to your visuals. Sustainably made and available in various textures and colors.

Studio rental FAQ
Planning a shoot in a new city always comes with practical questions. Here are the answers to the ones we get most often.
What kind of productions is the studio suitable for?
Ocean Studio Berlin is well suited for photo shoots, interviews, branded content, castings, fittings, workshops and small video productions. The space works especially well for teams looking for natural daylight, a calm working atmosphere and a flexible loft setting in Berlin.
How large is the studio?
The studio offers around 130 sqm of space in a historic factory building in Berlin-Friedrichshain. It includes a large open shooting area, a separate production office, a make-up and styling area, lounge seating and a bathroom with shower.
Does the studio have good daylight?
Yes. Daylight is one of the studio’s strongest features. The main shooting area sits along a 10 metre south-facing window front, which creates a bright and open atmosphere throughout the day. Large windows on the opposite side add further depth and ambient light.
Can the daylight be controlled?
To a degree, yes. White blinds and diffusion materials are available to soften or reduce the incoming light. The studio is not a full blackout studio, but the daylight can be shaped for many common photo and video setups.
Is there a freight elevator or step-free access?
Yes. The building has a large ground-level freight elevator, which makes load-in much easier for equipment, props and rolling cases. Step-free access is available.
Is there space for make-up, styling or production?
Yes. The studio includes a dedicated make-up and styling area as well as a separate production office. This room can also be used for meetings, prep, wardrobe or as a quiet workspace during the shoot.

Where is the studio located?
Ocean Studio Berlin is located in Berlin-Friedrichshain, close to Warschauer Straße and Frankfurter Tor. The area offers good public transport connections as well as cafés, restaurants, bakeries and shops nearby, which is practical for longer production days.
Is lighting equipment included?
Professional lighting equipment can be rented directly via RentOne, our preferred external rental partner in Berlin. Direct booking is recommended for insurance reasons. Basic light stands may be available on request.
How do I book the studio?
Booking requests are usually handled directly via email or contact form. It helps to include your preferred date, production type, team size, timing and any equipment needs. That makes it easier to check availability and prepare an accurate quote.
